jungle kids

Casey screamed at the sight of the Boa Constrictor but Brad quickly calmed her fears,"It's not hungry right now ,just take a look at the size of that lump in its gut."The two of them along with Sandy and Greg were all that was left of a reality survivor show gone terribly wrong.

Oddly enough, all four still had their cameras though only Greg continued to record their tragic journey.Dropped into the deep jungle, twelve teens were to be monitored daily by Phoenix Burnside.Three weeks later, there was still no sign of the renowned adventurer.

A very large monkey had decided to keep the sheet of paper on which was written the ransom note for Captain Burnside.Poachers had come upon him waiting at a meeting spot for the unfortunate campers. They had taken everything of value and left the note in an empty jar with a lid screwed on tightly. The monkey easily undid the lid and went away into the jungle shrieking his good fortune.

Phoenix wasted little time fretting over the teens in the jungle. They had after all been given a crash course in jungle survival and all the proper papers were duly signed by parents and guardians. Not to mention the lucrative life insurance policies. He lounged happily in the poacher's tent eating bananas and conversing with the ladies. This turn of events would simply make his show number one what with all the publicity about his kidnapping.

Casey,Brad,Sandy and Greg set about their tasks with speed and alacrity .They had long since decided who was best at which job so there was no bickering or wasted time.Casey pulled bark from her jacket pocket and set about making a fire while Brad and Greg put together a lean to. Sandy brought forth the jar full of frogs and insects they had gathered on their journey.

In half an hour they were gathered around the campfire cooking their meager dinner.Sandy fingered a medallion around her neck and wiped a tear from her cheek.Casey moved closer on the log and put an arm around her friend's shoulder.
"Don't give up on them Sandy,"she whispered,"They could be on their way back here with help right now."

Three days earlier ,two of the bunch had set off on a make shift raft down river.Renny ,a boy of fourteen and Mina,a fifteen year old were the best swimmers and had been raised on the water. They hoped to find help along the river.Phoenix always told them that waterways led to civilization.

At that moment they were debating whether or not to spend the night on the raft.

Shivering in the semi-darkness,Renny watched the sun sink behind the tallest trees and moaned,"This raft is no place to try and get any sleep.I was awake all last night and I know you were too."
Mina swatted at something that buzzed around her head and sighed,"We can't take a chance on the bank. The crocs will get us for sure.Remember what happened to Gloria and Rosco?"

Renny shivered again but not from being wet and chilled,"Don't talk about it!he growled,".

"Let's keep going until dawn and then we'll stop and make a place up in the trees to sleep for a while,"Mina offered.

"Hush!" whispered the boy,"I heard something behind you,".

A snow white face peered out of the bushes as Renny and Mina both screamed,"Manuel!" and reached out for him.The frail child collapsed across the rough boards of the raft and passed out.It was completely dark and they could hear the sound of others following Manny.Mina pulled up their rock anchor and sent them hurdling back out into the swift current.Manny came to and sat up carefully.Mina tried to wipe the dark blood from his face but he pushed her hand away.

"They killed the others," he sobbed. He was the youngest and most sensitive of the group.Mina handed him a water jug while Renny kept the raft off the rocks with a long pole.Manuel took long draughts until Mina had to stop him.She sat close and wrapped her jacket around him.The river was wild here, his story would have to wait.

Phoenix Burnside yawned, stretched and stood up to see a tall bronze woman approaching his hammock. He extended his hand for hers and kissed it graceously,"Please let me introduce myself,I am Phoenix Burnside ,world renowned adventurer and entrepreneur."
The woman batted her long black lashes and thouroughly enjoyed the introduction. She had grown tired of the disgusting examples of manhood in this Godforsaken jungle.

"Call me Zeeva," she purred,I trust you have been treated well?"

"Absolutely!" declared Phoenix,"except for an unfortunate lack of libations."

"Easily solved," returned the beautiful bronze goddess. She said something to her attendants and in a moment they returned with glasses and a bottle of bourbon. As she poured she glanced up at Burnside with admiration,he was after all shockingly handsome by any standards.
She had never seen such sea green eyes in all her life and they were set off to perfection by the coal black curls that tended to fall across his face. She truly hoped she would not have to kill him.
