Prologue
Walking along the beach Sasha could find her alone time ,but today she was in too much pain from Micheal. Too much pain to real care what he thought right now. Tears came out of her soft brown eyes and sting as the followed the course of the other tears that had fallen.
She had come home from work one day to an upset stomach and what did she find in her bedroom when she got home made her mouth drop wide open. Here was her husband of 2 months who promised to love and obey with another woman. Tears surged up and she yelled at the top of her lungs "What the hell is going on here?"
Micheal just smiled at her and said "Do you want to joing us?"
Sasha stood there for a few seconds before she grabbed the nearest thing to her. It went sailing through the air before she realized what it was. She had thrown her mother's old silver cross at his head and as tears rolled down her check she prayed to God that it would hit Micheal in the head.
Running out of the house as if the devil himself was on her tail she ran past the neighbors' house as if nothing was wrong. She caught a glimpse of the lady next door watching her from the front porch ,but she kept on going as if her life depended on it. As that thought raced through her head she never realized how truthful it was.
She stopped to take a breath when she got in the sandy beach near their house and she stared out into the water as thoughts drifted their her hurting head. Never seeing Micheal get out of the bed ,but she knew it when his fists hit her in the stomach. The first one hit her ,so hard she was knocked back against the door and she slid down trying to catch her breath. The next one connected with her face and she started to scramble away from him on all fours. Somehow she had made it the front door and took off running.
As her thoughts went over those moments in her head she realized how lucky she had been and now she was afraid to go back to Micheal. The last time she had forgiven him he had promised that nothing like this would happen again and now she didn't know who to trust any more.
Chapter One
As she was standing there with her toes in the sand she wondered what her next move should be. Looking up she noticed a lady on a patio watching her and as she lifted a camera up to take her picture is when the first bullet hit beside her.
Jumping, she started looking around to see who was shooting at her. She noticed that the lady had dropped her camera back on the table beside her. Starting to walk toward the steps that lead to the upper deck she wasn't to sure where the next bullet would hit. Nerves were flying high as she stepped slowly unsure of what to do next.
The next bullet hit her two inches off the spine and she screamed out in pain. Wanting the shooting to end she fall to her knees and tears swelled upward to her brown eyes. One of her hand felt the spot where the bullet had hit and she knew she was blood cause of the sticky feeling she got. When her hand touched the spot it felt like a hot poker being pushed through her.
Looking up to the lady Sasha noticed she was calling someone for help and she knew without a doubt that they would get here to late to help her. Camera went back to take another picture of her as she was on all fours in pain and she knew the lady was too scare to come near her.
She couldn't blame here in the least cause she would be the same way. Lying on her side she started to hear the sirens off in a distance and she knew they were coming for her. She hoped they got there in time to help her cause the pain was unbelieveable. Closing her eyes she noticed how her breath was coming hard to take a deep breath and she could hear a gurgling noise whenever she tried to take a deep breath. Darkness was closing in and she finally gave up letting the darkness take control.
Sirens were getting closer and darkness was getting deeper as her whole body went limp. Hearing pings beside her body she knew that whoever had shot her was making double sure that she was dead.
CHAPTER TWO
Lynn couldn't believe what she was seeing. A woman was being shot down in front of her. She watched as the woman reached toward her. Her hand went up to ask for help, to warn her not to come close. Whatever or whoever she was reaching for Lynn had to help this woman. Somehow!
Her hand went down to pick up her camera and she started to take pictures of the woman. Zooming in to get a picture of her face she notice the pleading look on her face. She noticed the bruise on her face. This poor lady was in trouble from a unseen person.
Truth sank deep and she took a step back in fright. Would that person start to at her? Could that person see her? Did that person know she was watching the whole thing and had the rifle pointed at her?
She could hear the sirens getting closer and she knew whoever did this to this poor woman would be long gone when they got here. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a twinkle of a light as the sun reflected off something. Glancing that way she knew she could see nothing throught her normal eyes ,but what about the zoom lens on her camera?
MOving in that direction she brought her camera up to her eyes once more and zoomed in where she had seen the reflect of light. She could see the figure of a man running off in the direction of a waiting car and without realizing what she was doing she started taking his picture. Praying he would turn around ,so she could get a glimpse of his face instead of his back.
Shaking, she tried hard to get a clear picture of the man praying that he would turn to look at her. Glancing at the woman and she felt sorry for her. Did she deserve what she had got? No one deserved to be gunned down like a animal.
She put her camera back to her eyes and was shocked to see the man standing there looking at her. He waved and than suddenly disappear into a waiting car. She was ,so shocked she wasn't even sure she had got a picture. She knew that would be one face she wouldn't forget soon.
Chapter Three
She sat across from the police officer, who was questioning on what she had seen. Shaken by the whole experience she wasn't to sure she wanted to talk about that poor lady. No one deserves to gunned down in a public place like she had been.
Watching from her patio she noticed the crowd gathered around the body and crew working to clean up the mess. A doctor, who had been on the beach with his family, had rushed over to her to see if she needed any medicial help. After, looking at her for a few second she was pronouced dead and watching as the parents in the crowd rushed their children away.
She listerned to the police officer talk into the mike that was clipped to her shoulder and Lynn couldn't figure out how this police woman dealt with death like this. She figured it had to take a special breed to deal with this on a daily basis.
Tired of satting in one spot Lynn still couldn't believe what she had seen. Standing by the patio doors she watched as men wrapped the body in a black bag and got ready to lift her onto the gurney that was waiting. Turning to look at the police women she asked "Did I help you enough? Do you think you will catch the guy that is responsible for this?"
The police woman looked her and said "We have a better chance since you got some pictures of his face. Be glad that you were here to help. I know it is a terrible thing to see and you probably won't see that again. Just think of it this way- you helped us get a look at the killer's face."
Helped her get a better look at the killer and the killer knows the same thing. He will be coming after her and with the thought of killing her. He will hunt her like an animal just like the woman on the beach.
She shivered and wrapped her arms around her slender body. Tears sprang to her eyes and she was scared for her life. Not knowing which way to turn and who to turn to.
The police woman sensed how quiet Lynn had got and she sat down beside her. Softly, she said "I know it is scary and believe me when I said that everything will work out for the best." Pausing, she glanced at Lynn and replied "We will catch him. Now, that we know who we are looking for, we will get him. He won't even get close to you."
Lynn looked at her and wondered if she could actually believe this woman. She wanted to believe her ,but she kept thinking about how the guy had gunned the woman down like an animal caught in one of his snares. Tears started to form in her eyes as she softly said "I will try to think positive. Now, what happens?"
The lady police officer smiled and replied "We get to work and we put you in protective custody. Just remember he will not get close to you."
